| Careers in the New Music Industry
Design Team: Matthew Obrakta
Project Summary: This was a graphic design project advertising a discussion panel with music industry artist and other professionals. A flier and a pamphlet were needed for this project. I went about this project keeping in mind the effect technology has had on the music industry and how this industry has been evolving in general. This brought me to using many different layers in Photoshop to construct a “Franken-guitar” out of many different guitars giving the viewer the impression the guitar is changing.
The flier required basic information about the event, but this was also a good opportunity to use the “Franken-guitar”. However, the flier still felt a little flat with just the information and graphic, so I added faded music sheets to fill out the space. Furthermore, I tweaked the text rotation to draw more attention back to the textual information. The flier was posted within the School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington.
The pamphlet was focused on background history and information on current working projects or positions for each of the panelists. Photographs provided by each of the panelists were used to further connect the reader and audience to the panelists. A background filter with texture and another for added color was used to give the pamphlet more dimension, and gold lines were used to break up the information making it easier to read. The pamphlet was distributed at the panel discussion. |
