| Museum Energy Project
Design Team: Charles CJ Page, Jingyu Wu, Mathew Obrakta, and Vidya Palaniswamy
Project Summary: The main focus of this project was to create an informative interactive museum exhibit on sustainable energy. We wanted to emphesis how natural elements could be made into energy. We focused on wind, water, and light as our three ways of gathering energy. We designed this exhibit keeping in mind the main users would be children.
We started the project with a disablitiy experience to better understand how people with disablities used technology and accomplished daily taskes. Even though this part of the project really wasn't in line with the end design it did provide us with useful information to better our design.
During the project we designed a usability test centered around the three natural energy elements mentioned above; wind, water, and light. Our end design was an interactive map of the United States. Children would walk through the map to different the different locations where energy is being gathered. Children could then interact with, for example, the wind turbine by blowing on it and the greater the turbine spun the more light would be generated by the lights. |
